What We’re Reading: Nora Goes Off Script

Mamas, I’m about to tell you the name of the next book you’re gonna LOVE (especially if you love a great love story that makes you laugh, too). Here it is: Nora Goes Off Script, by Annabel Monaghan.

As soon as I finished reading this book, I texted Shannon and told her this is my new gold star, top-of-the-list romantic comedy novel. (And I’ve read many.) It was one of those books I couldn’t wait to go to bed so I could read it again. But then I got sad because I didn’t want the book to end, yet I couldn’t stop myself from flying through it. It kept me up until 3 a.m. one night! It’s that good.

I love, love, love the “voice” of this novel. The main character is a mom, and maybe that’s one of the reasons the inner dialogue felt so real to me. I couldn’t get enough, and it kept me laughing and swooning throughout the novel.

Here’s an overview of the plot from its Amazon page (where it gets 4.5 out of 5 stars with more than 4,000 reviews).

Nora Hamilton knows the formula for love better than anyone. As a romance channel screenwriter, it’s her job. But when her too-good-to work husband leaves her and their two kids, Nora turns her marriage’s collapse into cash and writes the best script of her life. No one is more surprised than her when it’s picked up for the big screen and set to film on location at her 100-year-old-home. When former Sexiest Man Alive, Leo Vance, is cast as her ne’er do well husband Nora’s life will never be the same.

So when you’re in the mood for a fast-paced novel that’ll make you laugh and root for love, this is your book. You can thank me later. It’s already on my “read it again” list, just for fun.

This book was named one of the “Best Beach Reads of Summer 2022” by The Washington Post, USA Today, Southern Living, Cosmopolitan, Buzzfeed and more. Click here to read more reader reviews of Nora Goes Off Script on Amazon.
