Giveaway: Tickets to see Alonzo King LINES Ballet!

What an amazing night it will be when Alonzo King LINES Ballet performs at Walton Arts Center on June 16th!

And we’ve got two tickets to  give away to one lucky mama and her date PLUS a gift card to eat at Panera Bread in Fayetteville before or after the show! It’s this celebrated contemporary dance company’s first visit to Walton Arts Center with a new program that’s just perfect for Artosphere, the Arts + Nature Festival!

During their debut appearance, they will be performing Biophony, which combines ballet and the {real, recorded} sounds of nature.

alonzoABOUT THE SHOW: The ballet company collaborated with natural soundscape artist Bernie Krause and composer Richard Blackford. For more than forty years, Krause has traveled the globe with microphones tuned to the earth and its creatures. His vast archive catalogs the collective sound of entire ecosystems – what Krause terms biophony.

The sounds of crickets, elephants, whales, birds, thunderstorms and more set the backdrop for this exciting performance featuring the soundscapes of bioacoustician Bernie Krause and composer Richard Blackford.

Krause has spent more than 40 years traveling the globe with microphones tuned to the earth and its creatures, and his recordings of more than 15,000 species immortalize entire ecosystems.

The dancers’ senses are heightened amid calls of killer whales and tree frogs; their sweat seems to mingle with the mud, salt, and dust of their new sonic environments.

SPECIAL EVENTS BEFORE & AFTER THE SHOW: Prior to the performance, guests are invited to join Alonzo King for a Creative Conversation at 6 p.m. Then, following the show, guests can help kick off Artosphere with a roar at a post-show party!

The day after the show, there will be four Alonzo King LINES Ballet dance workshops for different ages — and skill levels. What a unique opportunity!

There will be master classes in beginning and intermediate ballet for youth and adults, on Wednesday, June 17 at Walton Arts Center.

All workshops are $10:

• 1pm – Beginning Ballet for Youth with Michael Montgomery

• 1pm – Intermediate Ballet for Youth with Meredith Webster

  1. My family & I love Tanyard Creek. You can hike, enjoy nature, look at waterfalls, splash in the creek, and have a picnic, of course. The best part is being together & all the photos we leave with, as treasures.

  2. This would be a perfect and much needed date night for us! Devil’s Den is absolutely my favorite nature getaway in NWA!!

  3. Oh my goodness my daughter would love this! We love Tanyard Creek and Lake Springdale.

  4. We love going to the top of Mt Sequoyah at the cross. You can see the entire town from up there!

  5. The new trail system is a blessing to our community–not only can you people watch, but you get to take in nature too!

  6. Love the trails at Crystal Bridges! My daughter would LOVE to go to the ballet. Three brothers — she lives for girls night out with mom!

  7. My daughter and I like to go to downtown Siloam Springs. The quaint little shops and the small town charm won us over. She’s only 13 years old, but loves like an old soul. She would love to go to the ballet.

  8. What a wonderful giveaway! We enjoy nature all around near! The razorback greenway through Springdale is our new favorite outdoor activity!

  9. Favorite place to enjoy nature is the Compton Gardens and Crystal Bridges trail. My kiddos love the flowers and bridges and I love that when they ask what something is, all the plants are labeled.

  10. There are so many wonderful places to enjoy nature in Northwest Arkansas! I love my backyard, the gardens around Crystal Bridges, all along the many trails, I could go on and on!

  11. We walk by one of the old confederate cemetaries near our house in Fayetteville. Just above it is a dead end road and trails heading into the forest. We take the dog and she can run and run, and the kids can run and explore. No driving, just walking to get there. perfect.

  12. My daughter absolutely loves ballet! This would be a perfect mommy/daughter date!! My family really enjoys going to Tanyard Creek in Bella vista!

  13. My family loves the trails at Crystal Bridges as well. We love the little get-away so close to home!

  14. I love to listen to the sounds while running the trails in Bentonville and Bella Vista. Sights and sounds can’t be beat!!! Very therapeutic.

  15. I like walking and jogging on the Hunt Park path. It circles the lake and is shaded by trees in some sections.

  16. Love to go to a open place at dawn and listen to the birds getting ready for the night 🙂

  17. My daughter LOVES ballet! This would be a wonderful Mother Daughter date!

  18. My favorite place to take in nature is my backyard. I love listening to the birds and buzzing cicadas while watching my tiny dancers chase fireflies.

  19. I love being outside our home. We finally have some land and trees and I get to breathe in the honeysuckle and watch my girls play out in nature…so good for my soul. : )

  20. I love to go to secluded spots overlooking Fayetteville late at night when it’s quiet and dark enough to look up and see the stars and listen to the night sounds.

  21. The Ballet and food? Now this is a real date night. I could even put on a, dare I say it??? dress! and heels too maybe. much different than the date nights we have been having of falling asleep on the couch watching HGTV or Food Network. I can only hope, and pray I will be the lucky one.

  22. We love to head over to Compton Gardens and enjoy a little nature close to town! The only thing better would be an actual date. At a ballet. Without the toddler that I love dearly. : )

  23. I love exploring the river behind our house and neighborhood. It is beautiful and peaceful.

  24. I was going to say Mount Sequoyah, but I saw it mentioned, so I will say Prairie Grove, AR Battle Field and Park and also the Janet Huckabee Nature Center in Fort Smith!

  25. My daughter and I love to explore around our house listening to the bugs, examining them along with the plants and flowers. There are other places we like to go, but we are happy that we can enjoy our own backyard every day!

  26. We enjoy going to theater and we enjoy eating out, so this win would be great!

  28. My sister is visiting from California and she would love this! I would love to take her out! Thanks for the chance!
