3 reasons to see “A Christmas Carol” at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville

Merry (almost) Christmas, Northwest Arkansas mamas! We’re less than a week away!

Most kids are either already out of school or will be soon, so if you’re looking for something fun to do during the break, we’ve got you covered. One of the events I’ve enjoyed most so far this month is seeing “A Christmas Carol” at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville. You can still snag some tickets to see it, with performances scheduled up through December 24th.

There are plenty of reasons to put this on your list, but I’ll give you my top 3 reasons since you’re busy and we’ve all got gifts to wrap.

  1. This show appeals to a WIDE range of ages. I saw it a week ago when my daughter’s high school drama class needed an extra chaperone for the class field trip. Honestly, I was blown away by this version of the story. The Charles Dickens story has been adapted by TheatreSquared in a way that feels so fresh, fun, and lively. The day I saw it, the audience was packed with kids ranging in age from young elementary school students to seniors in high school plus teachers and parent chaperones. And we were ALL glued to the action in this play and loved it! So this is a good outing for everyone in the family, including little ones and grandparents, too.
  2. The set is SO cool. What you’ll notice as soon as you step into the theatre is how gorgeous the background set is for this show. It looks like an old stately manor, but it hides all kinds of secret doors, flickering candles, magical door knockers, and moving parts.
  3. This cast is phenomenal. It can be tough to make language from the Charles Dickens’ era feel exciting for younger audiences, but this cast of actors really nails it. You won’t be able to take your eyes off them as Ebeneezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts — the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. The actors tell stories, sing, dance, laugh, and are constantly coming in and going out through the intricate set. Your kids won’t get a chance to be bored because there’s so much going on all the time. Some of the actors are kids, too, which is always fun for other children to watch.
