Of all the team-building activities out there, I can’t think of any more relaxing than the one the Motherlode team enjoyed last week.
We bonded over a … Spa Day!
Our fabulous Motherlode sponsor, Revive Medical Spa, treated us to massages and we all left there with a deeper appreciation for each other, for experienced therapists – and for the amazing experience it is to be a human noodle.
I don’t mean to be corny here, but we really did come out of our massages feeling Revive-d and ready to take on the day (with fewer headaches and pain).
First we were greeted by Liz, a new mom of a 5-month-old son, who works at the front desk. Then we chatted with Spa Director Sarah Wallace, who told us all about all the services as Revive.
There’s the complimentary Visia Complexion Analysis you get when you visit, the new GLO makeup line, the fact that they do airbrush spray tans, the great skin line they carry and all the amazing services they offer for erasing the signs of aging (or keeping them from happening in the first place!).

Then we got a tour of the beautiful new spa at their new location at 1444 E. Stearns Street in Fayetteville, near Mellow Mushroom and Mason’s. Speaking of the great new facility, Revive is having an open house on Nov. 19 so you can see it for yourself.

A personal massage story
If you’ve never done yourself the favor of getting a massage, they truly do have medical benefits. The right therapist can work out knots you’ve been feeling for months, a massage can help you sleep better and it can also alleviate the pain of a sports injury.
I (Shannon) was under the care of the right massage therapist, Dave (no worries if you prefer a woman masseuse, they have ’em!). He could tell just by looking at me that I was having pain in my right shoulder. Apparently one of my shoulders lifts a little higher than the other.
When I was on the massage table, he started working on the shoulder pain and found that the other shoulder was even more jacked up. Apparently it was overcompensating for the other side.
Well, huh.
I was also amused to hear that I have a big “mouse muscle”. I’ve apparently built up quite a muscle in my right arm from using a computer mouse all day long. Hilarious.
Dave is a born teacher. He explained that there are all types of massage you can choose, depending on what you need at the time. Here are a few as they are described on the Revive website:

During my massage, Dave (pictured below) told me to “Go to my happy place” so I could truly relax.
Why thanks, Dave, I believe I will go to the beach, dig my toes into the sand, watch the tide roll in while the sun’s beams beat down on my tired bones and read a good book.
