Beauty Buzz: What’s your favorite drugstore dupe?

Mamas, have you ever fallen in love with a free sample-size product? But then you use up all of the tiny sample size (typically only about 3 or 4 uses) and then realize that buying it would cost WAY more than you’re comfortable with.

That’s what happened to me when I had a facial a few months ago. I told the facialist that my skin has been SO freakin’ dry lately, so she used a Skinceuticals product on me called Triple Lipid Restore. Then she gave me a free sample size to use at home. Did I love it? YES, I definitely did. It’s such a great moisturizer and the smell and texture are heavenly. But… at $150 for 1.6 ounces, it’s not in my budget.

So I asked my friend Google for a list of dupes for this particular product, and then I tried the one that had the best reviews. I ended up with Cera Ve Night Renewing Cream. And mamas, it’s really good! For $19.99 (at Target) you get 1.7 ounces. CeraVe is often recommended by dermatologists, and this particular moisturizer gets 4.6 out of 5 stars with more than 1,400 reviews posted on the Target website.

If you want a version of this product for daytime use that also has SPF in it, you can try the CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream with SPF 30. I like that one, too.

I’ve been using it every night, and I definitely think it’s helping my dry skin. (And no, this is not a paid ad or post. Just an honest opinion from a fellow mama.) The CeraVe alternative might not smell as lovely as the more expensive option, and the texture is a little thicker, but that’s okay. For the price, it makes perfect (dollars) and sense for me.

What’s your favorite drugstore dupe that you love just as much as (or more) than a similar but more expensive alternative?
