This year, the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks will have some Little Sprouts “off-season” sessions. They will be offered on the second Wednesday of each month from November-April.
Until then, Little Sprouts will continue on a weekly basis. This is a botanically-themed program for preschoolers. Each week the kids read stories, sing songs, and do fun crafts and activities.
Whether they’re learning about how bees are more helpful than harmful, or exploring the garden with handmade binoculars, the children leave the garden with a real appreciation for the world around them and a new desire to protect it.
There are two sessions: 9:30 and 10:15 am on Wednesday mornings. You don’t need to register. Just show up on Wednesday morning. Watch BGO’s Facebook page for weather announcements on rainy days.
Participants range in age from newborn all the way up to 5-year-olds who haven’t yet started kindergarten. The program also serves the adults who bring the preschoolers. Each week BGO offers a program to families that will leave them with the inspiration to take what they have learned and apply it in their homes.
These are free for BGO members and regular admission price for non-members. Here are the themes and dates for the off-season sessions:
- November 8 – Thankful for the Harvest
- December 13 – Holiday Hoopla
- January 10 – Winter Wonderland
- February 14 – Valentine’s Day Fun
- March 14 – Mystical Creatures in the Garden
- April 11 – Earth Day Extravaganza
