Mercy breaks ground on Springdale facility

Great news for parents in Springdale and surrounding communities. Mercy doctors, nurses and specialists are coming your way in this new facility.

Here they grow again! Mercy broke ground yesterday on what will be a beautiful new $40 million facility in Springdale. About 200 people gathered at the groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of the building project. It’s located at Elm Springs Road and 48th Street, right off Interstate 49 (and it will also include room for future expansion.)

This “multi-specialty” facility will bring about 24 primary and specialty care providers to Springdale, and it will be the largest of 7 clinics that are part a $247 million expansion committment. (Also part of that expansion plan is the 7-story tower being built next to the Mercy hospital in Rogers.)

The new Springdale clinic will have 29 exam rooms for primary care and 34 rooms for specialty care. Specialties will include cardiology, urology, pulmonology, orthopedics and ear, nose, and throat. The clinic will also have a 24-hour emergency department with 12 exam rooms and a trauma room. There will even be a helicopter pad for emergency cases so that a patient can be stabilized for transport to the larger Rogers hospital or, if necessary, even farther away.

Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse said that, even though the city is seeing a lot of exciting growth right now, the new Springdale Mercy facility is at the top of the list. Construction begins immediately on the 60,000-square-foot building, and it should take about 15 months to finish.
