So who among us remembers Julie McCoy from The Love Boat?
Yes, she was the ship’s perky cruise director. Do you ever feel like that’s your job as mom? Join us on Magic 107.9 this morning (between 7:30-8:30 a.m.) where we’ll chat with Jennifer and Guy about surviving Summer 2011. (Click on the KEZA ad below to listen live.)
Now that summer’s here, we’re all feelin’ the pressure to make sure our preshus kidlets will have a fantabulous vacation. But the mamas are rebelling against taking on the role of Julie McCoy this summer and we have “research” to back us up. Just say no to guilt and give your kids the opportunity to be bored. Bordeom often = creativity. We’ll talk through some solid gold boredom busters that have the kids taking the lead.
Although we plan to allow for chunks of non-entertainment time, we do want to have fun playing together this summer, too. We’ll talk about some of those “nostalgic” summer pastimes that we hope to encourage over the next few months. Do you remember Mother May I and freeze tag? What about Marco Polo? It’s up to us to make sure these games don’t go out of style because our kids are too busy playing with electronics (but don’t think we won’t be making some use of that, too).
