Giveaway: A Family Getaway to see big cats — and Pete the Cat — in Eureka Springs!

The wonderful event Books in Bloom Literary Festival is headed to Eureka Springs next month and Pete the Cat will be there!

Pete the cat bookWe’re partnering with the Carroll and Madison Public Library Foundationto bring you a family package so you can spend the day in Eureka during Books in Bloom weekend. And guess who will be there? Pete the Cat!

Award-winning artist and Illustrator, James Dean, will be at the Books in Bloom event to talk about the real Pete the Cat, the inspiration for the series of wildly popular children’s books. The actual Pete may have saved Mr. Dean from an unsatisfactory career as an electrical engineer. Kimberly Dean partners with her husband to create hip new adventures for their iconic groovy cat.

So with this giveaway, the kids can ♥meet Pete, ♥visit the big cats at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge and ♥have lunch at Basin Balcony in Eureka!

The 12th annual Books in Bloom Literary Festival will be Sunday, May 21, from noon to 5 p.m. in the gardens and the conservatory of the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa in Eureka Springs.

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge’s mission  is to provide lifetime refuge for abandoned, abused, and neglected “Big Cats” with emphasis on Tigers, Lions, Leopards, and Cougars. They have a variety of exotic animals in a wonderful sanctuary.

Basin Balcony Restaurant menu is built around hearty appetizers, live music and fun food and is known as a must stop during any Eureka Springs getaway. Its unique location, on the “balcony” of The Iconic Basin Park Hotel offers a unique bar and three dining areas while serving as a central stop during a great day of shopping.

The Balcony Restaurant overlooks Spring Street, has regular live music and is known as a place where locals regularly frequent and visitors are sure to enjoy a cool beverage and a great meal.
