Business Women’s Conference 2010

motherlode-wc.jpgThere are a few tickets left for the Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference set for Tuesday, Sept. 21,at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center. Gwen and I are excited to be there with a booth and an awesome giveaway, so we hope to see you there!

This is our third year to attend and it’s really a well-organized, energizing event. We’re really excited to hear from Helen Hunt, the keynote speaker!

We spoke to Krista Khone of the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce about this year’s conference:

Who can benefit from attending the conference? Any woman can attend and benefit from the conference. Although most sessions are geared toward the business woman, there are definitely sessions that would be of benefit to anyone in attendance.

What can women expect when they attend? Attendees can expect a day of high energy and camaraderie. Attendees should come expecting to be motivated and inspired not only by the featured speakers, but by the other women in attendance

We’re so excited that Helen Hunt is your keynote speaker! Are you hearing that from other women, too? The feedback we have received on Helen Hunt has been incredible. There is such a buzz about her and as evidenced by the ticket sales, people can’t wait to see and hear her.

How many booths will there be at this year’s event? There will be approximately 75 booths and table this year. Year actually sold out on sponsorships before the end of August.

Will there be goody bags again this year? We love those. Most definitely! We are thrilled with the goody bags this year. We have a lot of new and different items this year and I think everyone will be very excited when they get their bag. The folders are also going to be packed with an incredible number of great coupons.

What are some of the comments you hear from participants after they leave the conference? We have heard so many women say how they have been inspired and energized and how they met women that they never would have had the opportunity to meet. We’ve had women tell us they were inspired to go back to school and finish their degree. We have had women tell us the conference changed their life. We have even had an instance where a woman told us she made the decision to leave an abusive situation and seek safety; that’s really powerful!

How many women are expected to attend this year? We will sell out at 1,300. As I am writing this, there are only a handful of tickets that remain.

We know a deserving woman will win the ATHENA award during the conference. How is this person chosen? The Woman of the Year is chosen by a committee and the selection is based on the criteria that ATHENA International sets forth. The criteria includes, among other aspects, professional excellence, providing valuable service to their community and assisting women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills.

Why do you think this conference is important for NWA business women to attend? The conference is important because there are few opportunities in NWA for women, business women in particular, to come together and focus on their common goals and to support each other. Women can be each other’s biggest supports, but sometimes, we are each other’s biggest critics. We need to work on doing a better job lifting each other up and celebrating each other; the conference is the perfect place for that to happen.

  1. Helen Hunt is one of my all-time favorite actresses but I work so I would not be able to attend. 🙁 How special for those women that do get to go!
