Trike Theatre performance tonight at downtown Bentonville’s First Friday event

triketty7205_tricyclelogo_spotv3.jpgDuring the monthly First Friday events in downtown Bentonville, Tricycle Theatre for Youth (The Trike) will be hosting staged readings highlighting future artistic season offerings.  With script in hand, these pay-what-you-can evenings of live theatre will be performed by professional actors alongside Trike Academy students. The first Sneak Peek program will be tonight (March 6th) during downtown Bentonville’s First Friday: Midway to St. Patrick’s Day event.

Every First Friday (March through November, 5 to 8 p.m.), downtown Bentonville is inviting families out to enjoy music, theatre, art and food. The St. Paddy’s Day event will, naturally, have an Irish theme with Irish food and dance featured.

Starting at 7 p.m., the Trike Theatre group will read from In the Garden of the Selfish Giant, an award-winning original play by Sandra Asher adapted from the short story by Irish author and playwright Oscar Wilde. The play is about the 11-year-old Maggie and her mother who come “home” to be with Maggie’s dying grandmother. Maggie resents having to cancel her summer plans and her bad mood only gets worse when she meets Brianna, the 9-year old neighbor who hates unhappy endings.

Performers include Cassie Self, Jodi Beznoska, and young actresses Kirsty Sinclaire and Rhianna Lightle.

Seating is limited and house opens at 6:30 p.m.  For more information, go to www.triketheatre.org or call 866.331.3681.
