If you’re reading this before or between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Thursday (July 1st), turn your radio on to Magic 107.9. The Motherlode Mamas will be stopping by the station for our usual Thursday morning chat with radio hosts Jennifer Irwin and Guy Westmoland. In honor of July 4th, this week we’ll be talking about kids and independence… as in “What things do you do to help make your kids more independent? What did your parents do to help you become independent?”

We’d love it if you’d call in and give us your ideas on different ways parents can help promote a kid’s independence in various stages of development. If you have grown children, we’d love to hear how you prepared them to “leave the nest.” But even moms of toddlers or preschoolers can begin fostering a sense of independence with simple, everyday tasks.
We’ll be discussing some of our own ideas along with lots of other tips and tricks we’ve collected from fellow moms. Hope you’ll tune in and join us! You can also post your thoughts on this subject by clicking HERE to join the discussion on the Magic 107.9 Facebook page.
