So I’m diggin’ Fun City’s new digs!

They recently moved just a hop, skip and a jump away from their old location. Now they’re in the shopping center off 412 in Springdale near Hobby Lobby, right next to the newly-relocated Babies ‘n Beyond.

Ladybug, her friend and I stopped by the new Fun City after school yesterday because I had PROMISED I would take them last week and forces beyond my control prevented it. So we had to go soon, before the Christmas holidays hit.

They’re still working on it, but the inside looks close to finished. We were all impressed with the 20 new games (they’re now up to 70-plus), the themed birthday rooms and – especially – the new 18-hole mini golf course and the “lazer maze” in The Vault. The lazer maze is a cool, smoke-filled dark room with laser beams that kids have to craftily avoid on their way to push the red button at the far end of the room. The girls thought it was awesome and owner Zacc let them play it a few times on the house with a turn of his super-duper free key.

The place has 7,000 more square feet of Fun and they’re taking the City theme and running with it!

The huge backdrop for the golf course is a big city. There’s also a road running through the whole facility with a crosswalk especially for the pizza man. Party guests will soon be directed to “follow Party Room Parkway” on their way to the birthday party rooms.

We likey.

I also like being able to work on my laptop while we’re there. Now, several of the booths have plug-ins and – hallelujah! – they’ll have free wi-fi by February. I like to let Ladybug play with her friends while I work. The place isn’t so big and crazy that I can’t see her from across the room.

When we first started coming to Fun City, Ladybug was TINY. I think we came for a birthday party that first time. She thought it was nirvana. Of course, I couldn’t take my eyes off her then. She was all over the place, especially in the ball pit. I have to say, I was disappointed that the ball pit no longer exists at Fun City 🙁

I still have a picture of Ladybug’s little face emerging from a sea of blue, red and green orbs. She has plenty of other diversions in the new place, though. I like that when she runs out of tokens, there’s plenty of places to play that don’t cost money. Free works.

Speaking of free, they still don’t charge admission, though all these changes can’t be cheap. Good going, Fun City. The Magsam girls wish you well in your new place!
