Hey, mom, looking for a part-time job?

As companies cut back on staff and hiring during the recession, they’re seeking more freelancers and part-timers to help get the job done. And for the same reason (husband laid off or hours cut back), some moms are looking for extra work that they can do from home.

Since we like to tell Motherlode readers anything we’d tell a good girlfriend, we wanted to let you know about a website we just heard about called HireMyMom.com. It’s a “matchmaking” service that provides businesses with experienced moms for temporary and permanent projects ranging from accounting to editing.

According to info from Orca Communications, there are an estimated 5.4 million “mom professionals” who have put their careers on hold to stay home with their children. This is one way moms are finding a way to keep up their skills and earn extra money. It might be worth checking out!
