Great Date Giveaway: One Night Out with Queen

You know what you need? You need a date night that rocks — seriously rocks. So this week we’re giving two tickets to one rockin’ mama so she can take her sweetie (or a hard rockin’ friend) to see One Night of Queen at the Walton Arts Center on March 15, 2013. Things start rockin’ at 8 p.m.

Click the play arrow on the video above if you want to know if this band does the legendary group Queen justice. They do. In fact, it’s hard to believe you’re watching a tribute band instead of the real thing. They cover all the Queen classics including We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Fat Bottomed Girls, We Are the Champions, and The Show Must Go On.

queen1ABOUT THE SHOW: The backstory on this show is fascinating. The lead singer, Gary Mullen, applied to be on a televised talent show in Britian that was called “Stars in Their Eyes.” Each contestant was supposed to impersonate a showbiz star. In the year 2000, Garry Mullen impersonated Freddie Mercury of Queen on the show, and the reaction was as phenomenal as Queen’s music. During the finale, the show received a record number of votes for Gary’s performance — so many, in fact, that his vote totals more than doubled the runner-up and he won the entire season.

Gary began touring on his own and in 2002, he formed a band called “The Works” to pay tribute to rock legend Queen. They’ve performed through the United Kingdom, Europe, South Africa, New Zealand and the United States, giving spectacular live concerts that recreate the look, sound, pomp and showmanship of the greatest rock band of all time.

We don’t think we need to tell you how many “cool wife” points you’ll score with your husband if you win tickets to this kind of hard rockin’ date night. This would also be a great surprise gift for a teenager who loves classic rock. And needless to say, we believe every hard-workin’ mama deserves a night off to rock out.

  4. Bohemian Rhapsody!!!!

When my kids were little, I taught them this song and we would rock out in the car!!!

    Thank you!

    Teresa

  5. Freddy Mercury actually did this operetta with Montserrat Caballé called “Barcelona.” It took him years of begging (and some serious dollars) to get her to sing with him.. it is amazing! My favorite!!

  6. Queen is my FAVORITE rock group. I would love to go on a date with my husband this night!!!!

  7. We Will Rock You of course! I love when they play this at sporting events. It gets the crowd really going!!!

  8. “Bohemian Rhapsody” rocks me the most!!! In it’s early days, not long after the album was released, my High School Mixed Choir performed the song in concert and on tour. We toured parts of Northern Arkansas to promote choir programs in schools that didn’t have a choir. It was a super experience and one I have never forgotten!

  9. I like Bohemian Rhapsody, But i LOVE to watch my husband sing along with all of them 🙂

  10. I still know the words to Bohemian Rhapsody and rock out to it with my kids. They think it’s super cool that I know them.

  11. Well, my FAV is Fat Bottomed Girls. Or maybe We Will Rock You. I also LOVE Killer Queen. Did Queen make any bad songs?! I have them all on my iphone as ring tones. 🙂 I have the CD in my car and my 11 y/o son and 2 y/o daughter sing along… (I’ve been wondering if that’s “okay”, or maybe a little inappropriate?!).
I also TWEETED about it (https://twitter.com/ColemanChaosity/status/306120519613304833) and I’m sharing on FB as well!
    Thanks Ladies!!

  12. I love all Queen songs, but my all time favorite is We are the Champions! We used to play this on a big boom box at swim meets when I was in high school to intimidate the other swimmers from the other teams. Haha so crazy!

  13. I am a huge Queen fan. I think my favorites would be Somebody to Love and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
I would love to have a date night with my hubby to see this show!

  14. Bohemian Rhapsody is my fav (makes me think of Wayne’s World), but love all their songs!

  15. I’d say Fat Bottomed Girls for sure. I love the tune and the melodies. And I’ve got a pretty fat bottom myself!

  16. My favorite song is Crazy Little Thing Called Love!! I’d love to win this awesome date night with my husband…we need it!!

  17. Another One Bites the Dust! Or Bohemian Rhapsody (Wayne and Garth style of course).

  18. My 15 month old baby girl LOVES to shake her booty and dance to Bohemian Rhapsody and Under Pressure. My all time favorite is The Show Must go On. Would love to see them redone by a great band!

  19. I loved it when “We Are the Champions” played during the light show on Freemont in Vegas.

  25. Has to be “Bohemian Rhapsody” .. Loved “Waynes World” and this song always gets me movin’ !!!

  26. we will rock u and fat bottom girls and we r the champions and oh well all of them can’t pick just one gotta love them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. Bohemian Rhapsody has always been a favorite – I’m the baby of three and my brother listened to this and the song had its way with me – I pretty much just always thought it was a really comical song! Of course for sports I LOVED (and still love) We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions, my friends, of course… 🙂

  28. For some crazy reason I uh “hum” the intro to Another One Bites the dust periodically. My three year old doesn’t recognize it and asks “what’s that song?”. It took me a while the first time explain that Queen was a band (not the mother of a princess) and that a band is a group of musicians. Now I just say “Queen” and she goes along her merry way!
