Doc Talk: Should you carry an aspirin with you in case of heart attack?

It’s time for another online trip to the doctor’s office. This time we’re visiting with Deb Walker of Mercy Health System of Northwest Arkansas. She’s a nurse practitioner with Mercy Cardiology deb-walker.jpgClinic and has 22 years of experience in this field. (She’s also a fifth generation native of Northwest Arkansas!)

As you may know, heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in our country. You can’t know too much about the warning signs and symptoms and what to do if you think you (or someone you know) may be having a heart attack. We know some women who carry around an aspirin in their purses so they can take it if they believe they’re having heart attack symptoms. So we asked Deb Walker to advise us on this practice and give us the real scoop.

For more info on heart attack and the possible benefits of aspirin, talk to your doctor or call Mercy Cardiology Clinic at 479-338-4400.
