Beauty Buzz: Ask Amy

Dear Amy,

My little sister is getting married next week, and I’m the matron of honor. Both of us cry at the drop of a hat, so I know we’ll both need a waterproof mascara that really does its job so we don’t look like a runny mess in the wedding photos. Know of a good one?

Dear Happy Tears,

I must have tried at least 100 different mascaras and I can’t find one (at any price point) that beats Maybelline’s Full ‘n Soft. The regular formula can withstand more than a few tears, but the waterproof version should survive an entire ceremony of sobbing. Just be sure to carry a tissue (or several!) and dab your tears, not your eye makeup, as soon as they surface. Also, if you are like the rest of us and require concealer, try one that’s super long-lasting like Lancome’s Effacernes Waterproof Protective Undereye Concealer. Best wishes!

Dear Amy,

I’ve noticed that my cell phone gets covered with foundation and powder after I use it for a few days. Why is my make-up rubbing off like this? Am I doing something wrong or do I need to switch foundations?

Dear Cell Phone User,

If you tend to chat for a while like I do, it’s probably just the heat from the cell phone that’s causing your foundation to “melt” a little. While a tad gross, it’s nothing to worry about – just be sure and clean your phone regularly to keep bacteria from potentially causing a breakout. If it’s really bothersome, you could go to an electronics store and purchase a hands-free kit with an ear piece that’s compatible with your phone. That way you can keep your makeup fresh and your phone clean at the same time.
