Mamas, we loved all your comments on the recent Yum Yo’s giveaway.
A local teacher won the mama party and plans to invite several of her Northwest Arkansas friends and their teenagers. They can’t wait!
If you missed the giveaway post or didn’t read all the comments, we want to share some of the sweet highlights! We asked our readers what they appreciate and admire about their own mama friends or their own moms.
These comments are a treat! Enjoy:
Alyse: I think something I look for and value in my most treasured mom friends is that they have really struggled with the hard things in life and really thought and felt and loved through both the good and the painful things—I call them Velveteen Friends, like the Velveteen Rabbit. They are hard to find but so very worth the becoming real together.
Celeste: I lost my mom in January. I even more so value the community of other moms as the place for advice and ideas that was my go to is now gone. Other moms strengthen each other to persevere through the good and bad days. So thankful for my “mom squad.”
Becky: I appreciate and admire my mom friends for a million reasons.. they cheer you on, forgive often, don’t judge and make me laugh even when I may feel like crying… mom friends just get it.. and I am so thankful for each and everyone of them.. I have had so many mom friends who have entered my life at exactly the right time and continue to be there day in and day out. Mamas rock!!
Jane: My mom friends talk me off of the ledge on a weekly basis. Being a mom is such a challenge sometimes, and it is easy to feel like you aren’t doing something right. My mom friends help me realize that there is no “perfect” in parenting, and that my kids are going to be just fine even if I slip up here and there. Plus, they know how to sneak in the wine!

Kim: I admire the mom friends that don’t feel stressed about having other kids over at their house. I want to be more like that!
Carrie: I love how my friends don’t judge when things go wrong or my children act out. We all have hard days and we stick by each other through them all.
Melissa: There are so many reasons I love and need my momma friends!! They’re always there through thick and thin, to cheer you on or pick you up, for your triumphs and failures and everything in between.
Ali: I have a friend who is SO good at including me in plans. I’m an introvert and have such a hard time making plans or reaching out to others, and she’s amazing at making sure I’m not left out.
Amy: I admire all my mama friends in how much love and dedication they give to their kids.
Lyndsay: My mom friends keep me feeling blessed to be a mom and knowing that I’m not the only one who feels this way or that way… it’s the most wonderful gift in the world to be a mom!! So thankful I have friends to share it with!!
Nicole: I love my mom friends. Even when we get busy with our crazy family schedules and don’t always find time to get together they are just a text away and it’s easy to pick up where we left off.
Becky: I admire how my friends have stuck by me through hard times. Always there to lend a hand!
Stacy: My momma friends are amazing. We are all raising teenagers right now so we lean on each other during good and bad times. They are all there when I need them. Friends are the best.
Betsy: My friend Courtney was my source of information when pregnant, postpartum, and now with a toddler. I can’t imagine going through motherhood without her.
Kim: The thing I admire most about one of my daughter’s friend’s mom is that she seems to enjoy the busyness of all the activities of her three kids and never appears stressed or that she’d rather spend her weekends any other way. She seems to live each moment to its fullest!
Katie: I appreciate the selfless sacrifice daily to put the kids needs before their own.
Shannon: I admire my mother for being someone I always feel comfortable around. She never judges me and accepts who I am. She is always a “JOY” to be around! (Her name is Joy)?
Tiffani: I love my mama friends. They are selfless and caring and will drop anything to help out another mama. We don’t have family in the area so they are my family.
You also said some super sweet things about your own mamas:
Rose: The thing that I always admired the most about my mom was that she always put my siblings and me first. She would always do without to make sure we didn’t have to.
Sheila: I love that my own mom has always done so much for our family and made it a priority to pray for us and celebrate each person’s birthday with a home cooked meal and the individual’s favorite dessert!
Misty: Something I admire about my own mom is how much she cares for others. She goes out of her way to help others–even when she is tired and stressed about her own “stuff.” She is an amazing human!
Lindsay: I love how my mom went from a “girl mom” to being G.G. to 3 boys so well. And that there are plenty of “vintage toys” to play with at her house!
Shannon, who won the giveaway, said: I will always admire my mom’s advice when I was having problems: “It will work out, just give it a couple of days.”
