See who won the Birthday Girls List birthday box for April!

Eek! Things have been so busy around here with Mom Prom planning and Summer Camp Guide sharing and radio show chatting, we forgot to announce the Birthday Girls List winner!

As we mentioned in March, we’ve partnered with DaySpring for the Birthday Girls List and each month one local mama will win a fun DaySpring Birthday Box (chosen at random among all the birthday girls).

But EVERYONE on the list who’s celebrating a birthday that month will receive a $10 gift card from DaySpring!

We asked Jessica a few questions so we could get to know her better:

How long have you lived in NWA and what brought you here?

I’ve lived in NWA since 2003. I moved here for college and fell in love with the area so I stayed!

Tell us about your family:

My family consists of me, my husband Matthew, and our 3 children – Elizabeth, Emmett, and Brienne. We also have a dog, a Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Daschund mix) named Hershey.

{The photo includes me, Emmett, and Brienne at the last Chick-fil-a day last summer. It was the most recent one I could find that had more than just my 2 youngest – Elizabeth is a teenager and hates family photos (haha) and my husband never wants in on them either. This makes me realize I need to get a family photo done soon!}

Tell us about you:

Talking about myself is hard! But I will try. I consider myself a perpetual student – I love to learn and research, and I try to learn something new every day. I’ve lived with type 1 diabetes for over 21 years now which makes things quite interesting at times! I consider myself a political junkie and a voracious reader with aspirations of writing. However, years in academia (first as a student, then as an employee) has rendered me unable to write anything but research papers, hah!

What are some of your hobbies?

My hobbies include crocheting, sewing, & crafting in general, as well as spending as much time as possible playing, creating, learning, & being silly with my kids.

How do you usually celebrate your birthdays in your family?

For birthdays we usually do a simple but special birthday dinner at home which the kids help cook & bake, so they can be involved in all of the preparations and festivities 🙂
