The Scott Family Amazeum, one of our sponsors here at nwaMotherlode, is offering Northwest Arkansas families An Extra Month on Us!
If you join or renew your membership by July 31 you’ll receive the free month. Cool!
You can basically give your family a gift that lasts LONGER than a year. With an Amazeum membership, you can drop in to play and learn for a full 13 months. For a family of 4, that’s $7.31 a month! Unlimited visits means not thinking about the price of admission and always having a cool place to come when Northwest Arkansas really starts to heat up this summer.
An Amazeum membership has lots of perks: members-only hours, member events AND free admission to over 350 science and technology centers across the United States. Members tend to flock to Science City in Kansas City, Museum of Discovery in Little Rock and Perot Museum in Dallas. Click here to see the full list of centers you can visit for free.
If you haven’t been to the Amazeum yet and want to check it out before you buy a membership, you can always visit then apply your admission to a membership before you leave. This summer is the perfect time to visit since the Amazeum will be packed full of new daily pop-up activities and the 3M Tinkering Hub will be hosting a new activity every week.
The Amazeum summer camps have just started up and members receive discounts. There’s also a new traveling exhibit called Imaginate which is all-out fun for children and adults.
Imaginate provides hands-on opportunities for families to experience pathways to innovation. For example, visitors can make, test and observe paper airplanes improving design that will allow for optimal performance in an obstacle course. They can take ordinary materials and find ways to make them extraordinary. Guests will experience collaboration by using their heartbeats to move lights in a large sculpture.
“We’re excited that families can experience the joy of creating and innovating together,” said Erik Smith, director of exhibits at the Scott Family Amazeum. “This exhibit is packed with activities that will definitely appeal to everyone in the family.”
Imaginate was developed by the Arkansas Discovery Network, a statewide museum partnership operated by Museum of Discovery, Little Rock, Arkansas. The Arkansas Discovery Network was established through a grant by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
This exhibit is included in general admission. Imaginate will remain at Scott Family Amazeum through September 2017.
And just FYI, the Scott Family Amazeum will again host Priceless Nights throughout summer 2017 thanks to Tyson. The pay-as-you-wish evenings allow families to visit and make a donation in lieu admission if they choose.
Priceless Nights are held every Wednesday night (unless there’s a special event) from 4-7:30 p.m. And no worries that you won’t get to play with all the exhibits. The quality of programs and learning opportunities are the same on these nights as any other time the Amazeum is open. Hershey’s Lab will be open for families to conduct scientific experiments using Hershey’s brand confections. The 3M Tinkering Hub will have tinkering activities for guests age 7 years and older. Outdoor areas will be available as weather allows.
