Make a Difference in NWA: Immediate needs for Peace at Home Shelter

Continuing with our series of Ways to Make a Difference in NWA this holiday season, we’d like to highlight Santa Sacks at Peace at Home Family Shelter.  (We highlighted the Silver Star Tree at Pinnacle Promenade last week which benefits local military families.)

Every year at Christmas, folks step up to take care of the children who are living at the local women’s shelter, Peace at Home. But the moms of the kids? They don’t receive any gifts. We know that moms will sacrifice everything for their kids, but we think it would be awesome to gather these homeless mamas some treats, too, for their Santa Sacks.

When they leave the Peace at Home Shelter, they usually just have the clothes on their backs (especially if they don’t go back to an abusive situation). Here is a list of critical needs right now for the women who leave Peace at Home and are seeking to form new households:

Alarm clocks

Full size bottles of shampoo and conditioner

Small kitchen appliances (coffee pots, toasters, etc.)

Pots/pans

Dish sets

Silverware

Cleaning supplies for women’s new homes and for the shelter- eg. dish soap, bleach, antibacterial wipes, laundry detergent, etc….

Cooking utensils (spatulas, wooden spoons, etc.)

Diapers (size 4, 5, and 6 only)

Pull Ups (4t-6t)

Gift Cards- Wal-Mart/Target- good for gas, prescriptions, and other expenses we can’t cover! Small increments better eg. $10, $15, $20.

Here’s another opportunity to help immediately at Peace at Home: Our friend Suzanne Monk Clark is an Arbonne consultant and she wants to provide shower sets to these mamas (full size bottles, not the trial sizes they typically receive). Suzanne is partnering with Peace at Home and her team will be providing the totes, all toiletry items at a discounted price, several sets and covering shipping.
