Do you want to cry? A really cleansing cry? If so, you might try reading Notes Between a Mother and Daughter: Life on the Refrigerator Door. In fairness, I didn’t know how it was going to end — I hadn’t even read the book jacket. I just picked it up last night and consumed the whole thing in one heavy meal.
To keep from waking my husband with sobs, I got up and wandered around the house. Since I couldn’t call any of my girlfriends at midnight, I decided to cruise by the houses of some of my favorite bloggers. After reading for a while, I felt better. Then I decided to write a note of sorts to my newly minted 7-year-old daughter.
Ladybug, here’s 15 things you should know:
The day I married your daddy: bliss
The day you were born: blessed
The days you wouldn’t sleep: blurry
The day you laughed out loud: best
The day you took your first steps: brilliant
The day you turned one: beautiful
The way you were all day: boisterous
The way you were in play: bossy
The day you tried ice cream: brrrr
The day you said a word: bubble
The day you started preschool: boo-hoo
The day you started kindergarten: boo-hoo II
The day you lost your first tooth: bling
The day you learned to ride a two-wheeler: breezy
The day I realized you’re growing up too fast: brief
That is so sweet! I will have to check out that book, too.
Shannon,
That book made me cry too. I found it at the library one day, and read the whole thing in one sitting. Just because it was a quick read didn’t make it unemotional though! That book was packed with feelings!
I loved your “B” list too. 🙂
