Happy 2025, mamas! January is off and running. Here are a few of the best family-friendly events happening in Northwest Arkansas this month.

Time Loop 

Designed exclusively for the museum’s North Forest, this outdoor, site-responsive experience features six immersive installations for you and your crew to explore. Witness the natural rhythms of the Earth brought to life, see yourself fractured across the surface of a broken time machine, marvel together at the movements of the forest in a landscape of light, and more.

Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites

The traveling exhibit Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites will leave the Amazeum after January 6, 2025, so you’ll need to stop by soon. The exhibit turns seven iconic children’s books into three-dimensional play areas and bi-lingual (English and Spanish) learning environments. The books come alive and the kids can explore these book settings in real life: The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter; The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats; Where’s Spot? by Eric Hill; If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff ; Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault; Abuela by Arthur Dorros; and Tuesday by David Wiesner. Storyland was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum.

Best in Show exhibit

Through Best in Show, Momentary visitors will have the opportunity to explore the role that furry (and feathered) friends have played in culture and how they stand in as representations of status, power, loyalty, compassion and companionship through the perspectives of 25 global artists. Works on view will include examples by William Wegman, famed for his portraits of his Weimaraners; Walter Chandoha, the world’s first professional cat photographer; and Sophie Gamand, known for her touching, sensitive photographs of dogs taking baths. Free. No ticket required.

Frosty Fun Days Winter Break Day Camp

Beat the winter break blues at Frosty Fun Days, a two-day camp packed with ice skating, sports, arts & crafts, and seasonal activities. It’s the perfect way for children to stay active, make new friends, and enjoy the magic of winter during their break. Grades 1-6. Purchase required.

Date: Jan. 2-3

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: The Jones Center, Springdale

Winter Break Wonders

Make memories at the museum over the holiday break as you create with artists, make cozy collages and projects in the studios, and watch performances together as a family. Join Crystal Bridges for special activities each afternoon, including artmaking, creative play, movement activities, in-gallery experiences, visits by nature experts and local artists, and more.  Free, no tickets required. Drop by anytime.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Start your weekend off with Saturday Morning Cartoons at the Momentary. Drop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to kick back in their cozy lounges or grab a table for three hours of nostalgic fun with classic cartoons. There will be a cereal bar and drinks for all ages—it’s the perfect winter morning vibe. PJs are not required (but recommended). Free, no tickets required.

Art on the Bricks

Experience Art, Music, & Culture in Downtown Rogers! ✨🎶 Mark your calendars for Art on the Bricks Art Walk—a creative adventure happening the 2nd Thursday of every month! From 4:30-7:30 p.m., explore stunning pop-up art exhibits by talented local artists and craftsmen, then stick around for live music from 7-9 p.m. Every month brings something fresh and exciting, with new artists, exhibits, and venues to explore. Free & family-friendly.

Wonders of Winter Wildlife

Cure your cabin fever with this special event at the Hobbs Visitor Center celebrating winter wildlife. Everyone is welcome to partake in a hot beverage and make a s’more at the pavilion. Come and go as you please anytime during these hours and visit the tabletop booths and kid’s craft tables featuring winter birds, bald eagles, deer, and black bears.

Lunar New Year Celebration

Celebrate the Year of the Snake with a morning of Chinese cultural activities at the Bentonville Public Library. Kids of all ages welcome. No registration required. Listen to stories, learn some Chinese vocabulary, and take part in traditional Chinese artmaking.
