OK, let’s get real, mamas. We may want to help our kids with their homework, but sometimes it’s just not the best situation.
Maybe your “help” just leads to lots of arguing — and that’s really stressing out everyone in the family. Or maybe you feel out of our league with how to help them as subjects and concepts become more advanced. Or maybe your child was sick for a long period of time and has a LOT of homework to catch up on.
Or maybe? Maybe you just don’t.want.to.deal.
So we asked the director at Sylvan Learning of Rogers, one of our sponsors here, to give us a little insight into Sylvan’s Homework Support, which guides kids through tough homework assignments.
Kathy, site director, said, “Sylvan tutors combine personal instruction with independent learning to ensure children not only understand homework concepts but also learn how to apply those skills for a deeper level of learning.”
Kathy said kids come to Sylvan of Rogers for homework help in a range of subjects, but the biggest need is help with math homework: pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, etc. That’s not surprising, since so many of us are not math whizzes plus schools are teaching math differently than they used to.
Sylvan of Rogers’s homework tutors will:
- Provide homework help when your child needs it, including evening and weekend tutoring sessions.
- Assist on difficult homework assignments, so your child not only learns the concepts, but also minimizes his or her frustration.
- Help your child catch up with missed skills and lessons — and get ahead on new ones.
- Motivate your child with instant feedback and recognition for every skill learned.
“Homework support is ideal for kids who need personal tutoring on specific homework assignments, but not all the time,” Kathy noted.
