This classic coming-of-age story takes you to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, where Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade and their family of Greaser “outsiders” dream about who they want to become in a world that will never accept them. The Outsiders features Danya Taymor’s Tony Award-winning direction that’s “refreshing, gritty and endlessly effective” (The New York Times). With “high-octane choreography” (New York Magazine), The Outsiders has been described as “more pulse-pounding than anything else on Broadway!” (Time Out New York).

It’s my husband’s favorite movie, “Stay Golden.”
The storyline is engaging and unique. We get to understand the emotions, relationships, and interactions between the Greasers and the Socs. Hinton wrote the story in the 60s when she was only 15 and 16 years old in Tulsa, Oklahoma! It makes the story accessible knowing that someone so young wrote such an impactful story. And it still resonates with audiences of all ages today!
I love the quote, “Stay gold, Ponyboy,” and I still say it randomly to people whom I hope won’t be dragged down by the world or by others. The 1983 film version is iconic and memorable, too. I mean the casting alone is brillant.
Can you tell that I’m a super fan yet? I’d love the tickets and would relish the chance to see a musical version of the story.

There is everything to like about ‘The Outsiders’. I would love to take my daughter in law to see this. We are starting up a new annual tradition visiting seeing a show and I’d love to take her to this one!

This is my daughter’s favorite movie. One of my favorites as well.
My son and I read this book together and it had so many life lessons in it. From the church fire to the hospital room, we laughed, cried, and discuss life together while reading. He is a junior in high school and will always be one of his favorite books. We need a mom and son date!
This is one of the best books my son and I read together in Middle School. It was such a good book to speak life into him, from the Church burning scene to the hospital room, we laughed, we cried, we discussed. One of my favorite mom memories.

“Stay Gold!” My teen daughter and her friends are the next generation to carry on The Outsiders torch. They just love it since reading the book together and I love being able to experience all things Outsiders with them. We’ve been to the Outsiders House Museum several times, they have recreated the movie, dress as greasers and socs for fun, have had an Outsiders themed sleepover complete with making individual chocolate cakes and eating them along with a bottle of “root” beer while sitting on the living room floor watch The Outsiders (of course!). What a great experience this would be to continue making the memories and carrying on The Outsiders with the next generation of Greasers.

I love both the book and the movie, and enjoyed sharing both with my daughters. Would absolutely love tickets to take them to see this musical! One of my favorite sayings is “Stay gold Ponyboy” and I love the interactions amongst the characters. Also, love the author of the book is from Tulsa.

I grew up in Tulsa at a neighboring school to the author of the Outsiders, at about the same time she was experiencing it. Webster HS was the ‘Greasers’ school we all thought, but I attended McLain and it was not a rich school either. It was very much as the book shared. As I am older now, I would like to take my grandchildren to see this production. Thanks for the opportunity. I laugh at many attempts to pronounce Soc. (as in Tuff Soc – which we thought as a compliment.) It is ‘S O SH’ – long ‘o’.

The relationship between all of these young men is touching and emotional. I love how they stand up for each other and believe in each other. It’s a heart wrenching story.

How exciting! As a native New Yorker🗽 there’s nothing like a good show that brings me back to the experience of Broadway 🎭. I haven’t been back to NYC in years, and this is one of things I truly miss, seeing beautiful creative art come to life!
Although I have not yet watched “The Outsiders”, it would without a doubt be a dream come true, to be seated and experience the feeling of being back a Broadway 🎭 But this time, with the love of my life, my Husband 💕
