If you’re long overdue for a rockin’ date night or Girls’ Night Out, we’ve got the ticket. We’ve got two, in fact!

lynyrd_skynyrd_logo, resizedWe’re giving away two tickets to see Lynyrd Skynyrd live at The Amp plus dinner at U.S. Pizza! The show is on Sept. 12, so the kids will be back in school and you’ll be ready for a break.

ABOUT THE BAND: Mention the term “southern rock” and one band instantly leaps to mind: Lynyrd Skynyrd. They defined the genre in its Seventies heyday and beyond, and are still active entities. Originally formed in 1964 as the “Noble Five” in Jacksonville, Florida, the band’s three-guitar lineup gave them an uncommon musical muscle, while their down-to-earth songs spoke plainly and honestly from a working-class Southerner’s perspective. Theirs is one of the most dramatic tales in rock history.

The saga of Lynyrd Skynyrd has unfolded in an almost mythical series of ups and downs, from being in the vanguard of a musical movement to the tragic 1977 plane crash that claimed the lives of three band members. From the ashes, the survivors re-formed a decade later, and what started as a tribute turned into a full-fledged renaissance.

  40. Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of my very favorite bands. When I was in college I took a trip to Florida with friends. I drove the entire way back because I was so sunburned. My friends slept most of the way. To keep me company I used the CB radio and my handle was “Freebird”. I would love to see the band in concert.

  41. What’s your Name Little Girl…what’s your name? Shouldn’t you stay little girl…I was a 15 year old little girl when three of them died tragically in the plane crash. My friends got together and literally played our albums and cried all night long. Every Song was actually my favorite, because this band was and is still my favorite! My husband just had his best sales month since we have been in business for the last ten years, but he is too busy to play. This would be a nice reward for him!

  42. My hubby and I haven’t had much of a dating life since our daughter was born 3 years ago. Lynyrd Skynyrd is special because my husband’s dad passed less than a month after our daughter was born. He was the Simple Man. This was the song played at his funeral and it makes us remember him (and get emotional) every time we hear it. He was a truck driver and on one of his last-minute visits he was able to come with us to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert about a year before he passed.
It would be so special to my husband to see them again and remember him.

  43. I’m not a huge Lynyrd Skinner fan, but my husband is!! (My class song was “Free Bird”, though.) We need a date night because he had a birthday recently, and I totally dropped the ball. I’d love to treat him to an amazing night!

  44. Sweet Home Alabama has always been a fav!
My honey and I need a date night out to ourselves because is in the National Guard and was gone for 2 and 1/2 weeks in June, a week and 1/2 in July, and is now gone for the entire month of August. 45. Sweet Home Alabama is my favorite song. My husband and I really need a date night! We have had too much together time with our three kids this summer. And my husband has been working really hard lately. Thank you!

  46. My fave LS song is “Gimme Three Steps”. I need a date night in a BAD way. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 11 years. My youngest is off to kindergarten this year. I will get to finally live a little for me! What better way to start…an awesome concert and fabulous meal! Woot-Woot

  47. …always ready to rock with my sweetie!
    Fun date night! thanks Motherlode

  51. We need a date night because we have raised two kids and just when we thought they were getting old enough to be able to start doing stuff just the two of us lol and then boom twin boys that are my life and I wouldn’t triad them but they are two now and my daughter is 15 and older son is 10 so we would like a nice night out to be just us.

  52. My hubby and I definitely need a date night, we are in the process of potty training two year old twins. And it’s not going so well!

  53. I am a single mother of 2 and recently graduated college. The last 5 years have been dedicated to my daughters and school and I am in desperate need of a night out with my boyfriend! Free Bird is my favorite song, I listen to it on my Ipod weekly!!!

  54. My husband and I grew up with Lynard Skynard. He was just diagnosed with cancer and it would be great to have a night out before we can’t go due to immune issues!
    Thanks 🙂

  55. L❤VE Sweet Home Alabama (one of my faves!) but Free Bird holds a special place in my heart, reminds me of my late husband. I would Love Love to take our 16yr old to this concert if that could happen! His dad loved Lynard Skynard and this be his 1st concert to attend and a special one because of the memory. And a mother~son date is slways a good thing! i have remarried and have a wonderful hubby and 5 beautiful kiddos. The oldest three he took on without any hesitation and is a wonderful father to them❤ if my son isn’t able to attend, my hubby & I could def use a fun date night away from our 5 munchkins!!!!! So either of my 2 date options would be FANTABULOUS ..,both with special meaning. Hugs

  56. I could seriously use a date night with my hubby. We keep in going and going an it seems we have a difficult time just making time for us.

  57. Ahhh what a blessing a date nite would be. Im a single mom of 5yr old twins and a 11month old. I stay busy with kids sports family outings mommy and me and of course the daily grind of dishes laundry diapers and 5yr old trantrums n walmart. A date nite out would be a nite to remember im more then just a great mom.

  58. I am a school teacher and that means lots of extra hours at work this time of year. Add a new position at work for my husband and two small kiddos at home, and date nights are few and far between! A free and ALREADY PLANNED night out would be wonderful!

  59. My husband I were married 20 years ago July and could not find time away to celebrate we could use the night plus sweet home Alabama is our favorite song to dance too

  60. I need this because I just finished yet another grad school course (worked my backside off and made an A!). I teach at the largest high school in the state and go back to work next week. We’ll have 4200 kids this year. I’d love some fun before my next class starts ! 🙂

  61. We have been looking for a great way to celebrate our 1st anniversary without spending a lot since we just bought a fixer house. This would be perfect!

  62. Dear lord, what a great give away! Hubby and I rarely have date nights out. And this would be one that he would actually enjoy!

  63. I could really use a fun date night, things have been really tight this summer and we have had fun but it would be great to have a bit more fun with just adults. Also I am turning 30 this month, August 23, and then my 5 year wedding anniversary is in September!

  64. Why was my comment not posted? It was true about my FIL. am I still in the drawing?

  65. LS has lots of great songs, but ya gotta love Free Bird! As for needing a date night, yes please!! We have a busy, strong willed 3 year old that keeps us on our toes. And that’s also my birthday! Would make for a fun night!!

  66. My Favorite Alabama song is SIMPLE MAN – my husband had been unemployed for almost 18 months, and we were living day by day – very simple! He now has a new wonderful job… we could sure use a WINNING break and have a fabulous evening out together and not have to worry about MONEY!!!

  67. My favorite is definitely Sweet Home Alabama, although I like a lot of their songs. My hubby and I need a date night since we haven’t had one in a long while!

  68. My fave is either Ballad of Curtis Loew or Saturday Night Special. Random, yes but for some reason those two remind me of being little and my parents listening to them.

  69. My wife and I could really use a night where we don’t have to worry about our two kids; if anything I’d love for my wife to have a stress-free night.

  70. My favorite song is “I need you” not a forever popular song, shows i am a true fan, My boyfreind is working a job for U of A that must be done before football starts he has been working 12 hour shifts 7 days a week so we can have Razorback footbal to our TVs in less than a MONTH!! If theres a reason that we should go, that is it! Go Hogs!

  71. Be a Simple Kind of Man. The mother’s simple message to her son may not be attainable, but what a fine goal to shoot for , . . or simply allow to happen. I’ve never seen the band in person, but I’d love to, and besides that, I love US Pizza for offering delicious pizza with gluten-free crust. Yum!!

  72. My husband would love this! He sings “Sweet Home Alabama” whenever we pass through.

  73. I love freebird. Also… we need a date night because we will be just returning from a very busy year on the mission field, and we never get time away! Would LOVE to enjoy this! Blessings!

  74. Date night? Our first and brand new son just turned 5 weeks old on Tuesday…my poor wife is lucky to see the outside of the house at this point.

  75. I love Sweet Home Alabama. Would love a night out with my husband or a date night with my sweet son!

  76. Simple Man because that is just good advice from Mom. My wife and I have 6 kids , 3 jobs between us and my Mother -in-Law has been staying with us for the last month. We could use a Southern Rock Getaway and Lynyrd Skynyrd would provide that.

  77. Free Bird was our high school senior year song. We thought we were sooooo cool. 😉 We saw Skinard in Little Rock before we graduated and it was an awesome night!

  78. “Free bird” was my class song–back in 1995–but my favorite is “simple man;” my late husband loved that song, I had it played at his funeral for our two boys. It describes the kind of man my husband was and how I want to raise my boys, and makes me think of all of them–plus it just rocks!

  79. I also love “sweet home Alabama,” “Georgia peaches,” and most especially “call me the breeze.” “Call me the breeze” has some excellent piano fingering and is one of my favorite songs to listen to when I run.

  80. “Free bird” was my class song–back in 1995! I love “simple man.” It was one of my late husband’s favorite songs, so I played it for our two boys at his funeral for them: it describes the kind of man my husband was and the kind of men I want to raise my boys to be. It reminds me of my husband, and makes me think of my boys–plus it just rocks!

  81. The Ballad of Curtis LOEW is one of my favorites , but The Needle And The Spoon is the BEST! I actually have an original copy of STREET SURVIVORS -their last ALBUM , I bought it in 1977! I’d love to take my 17 yr old son on a date , he would truly appreciate a night of SOUTHERN ROCK

  82. Sweet Home Alabama 🙂 I would love to win this for a
girls night Out its been years sence me and my friend have had
A night out without our kids and being a single mom
I don’t get to have many nights out with the girls.
