It’s August, mamas, and we all know what that means. It’s time to get all the back-to-school appointments done.
If your kid plays sports or participates in any physical activity, most schools and other sports organizations will require a “sports physical” before your child can participate. It’s an easy appointment because there are typically no shots or invasive tests needed. Nothing to get stressed about for you or your kids.

Sports pre-participation physical exam includes:
- Health history review;
- Physical exam to make sure your child can safely play typical sports-related activities;
- Sports safety and education tips when needed; and
- Completion of any necessary forms.
School physical exam includes:
- Review your child’s medical and family health history;
- Record height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and BMI;
- Evaluate vision;
- Check heart, lungs, joints, muscles, eyes, ears, nose, and throat;
- Review vaccinations and immunizations status;
- Evaluate age-appropriate developmental stages; and
- Completion of any necessary forms.
All minors must be accompanied by a guardian or adult chaperone. Be sure to bring any paperwork or forms required for school and/or sports participation and activities, as well as a list of any medications your child takes. If your child wears glasses or contacts, bring those to the exam, too.
