A family who dances together stays together — and has fun while they do it! We love this idea for a family night out. The NWA Mercy Family YMCA in Rogers is hosting a “Family Dance Night” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012. And you don’t have to be an expert at shaking your “groove thang” to come to this event because a dance instructor will be there teaching everyone — including kids ages 8 and older — the steps to these classic dances.
There will be some fun favorites like the Macarena, Bunny Hop, YMCA, Patty Cake Polka, Hurry Scurry, Cumberland Square and more. Dance instructor Carl Ballou has been teaching these dances for more than 30 years for programs in schools, churches, youth organizations, scout troops and the YMCA.
You’ll learn dances including:
- polkas
- contras
- square dances
- mixers
- novelties
If you’re a YMCA member, admission is $10 for the first two participants and $2 for each additional person. For non-members, admission is $15 for the first two participants and $2 for each additional person.
