First it was kids, now dogs. Dickson Street merchants are reaching out to residents of the furry variety on Saturday, August 15, with a “Take Your DOGS to Dickson” event. Following the success of their “Take Your Kids to Dickson” event in June, The Lighter Side of Dickson, a new local public relations/event planning group has joined with the Fayetteville Visitor’s Bureau and the Dickson Street merchants to provide an afternoon of fun geared towards dogs and their humans.
The fun starts around 1 p.m., and will continue through late afternoon. Dog Party USA will be on location, providing fun activities such as an obstacle course and swimming pools for dogs. Local merchants will provide treats and water, plus some “dog-friendly” establishments will offer drink specials for dog companions.
Participants will receive a coupon book from local businesses, plus a special gift for the dog in their life. Entertainment and street performers will add to the festivities throughout the day. Organizers of this event are local residents that enjoy the downtown Fayetteville area, and wish to encourage others in the region to explore the unique, family-friendly atmosphere that exists there. They are looking for volunteers to assist in many areas during the event, including traffic safety, activity coordinators and assistants, clean-up and much more.
