Go Outside: There’s a free presentation called Night Lights on Friday night (Sept. 4) at Devil’s Den at 8:30, designed to help you explore the way the night sky interacts with light (and maybe see some nocturnal creatures). Sure the advertisements target kids, but who says they get to have all the fun? A walk in the dusk sounds like a good opportunity to laugh, talk, and maybe even kiss if you’re lucky 🙂
Go Back In Time: The Shiloh Museum in Springdale has a wealth of hidden treasures, and between now and the end of the year they are hosting an exhibit called “Squeaky Clean” which examines hygiene habits from Ye Olden Days. Admission is free, which makes it a definite cheap date – and a possible opening to discuss that delicate hygiene issue you have been meaning to discuss with your husband.
Go Back in Time Part 2: Or you can head over to the Prairie Grove Battlefield this weekend for the Annual Clothesline Fair. Admission is free, but it costs $5 per car to park. While you are over there feel free to take the free walking tours. If you already have plans this weekend, the walking tours are offered most days of the year. Get outside, learn something new, all for free? Sounds like a good cheap date. If walking is not your thing then you can pay $4 for a CD and take a driving tour.
People Watching: If you can’t resist the temptation of overpriced fried food and carnival rides, then the Washington County Fair (going on right now!) is a pretty cheap date night. The entry fee is $5 a person and gets you access to hours of entertainment in terms of people watching and exhibit gandering. Be sure to get an event schedule if you want to see some of the livestock judging.
Epic People Watching: Bikes, Blues & BBQ comes to Fayetteville on September 23-26, and with it a chance to do some great people watching. Whether you love bikes or not, the reality is nothing bonds two people quicker than talking about other people so people watching makes a great cheap date. It doesn’t cost a cent to walk around and see the cornucopia of people who converge on NWA for BBBBQ.
Hot Rods, Hot Date? While BBBBQ takes over Dickson, this year there will be a Classic Car Show at the AMP on Saturday, September 26. If your guy (or you) likes classic cars then this is another great opportunity to talk about a common interest and people watch. Admission is free for the public.
