Did you get a few things before or during the holidays that you’re already loving? Here are a couple of things we’ve been loving for weeks now.
Pretty addition to any room: Voluspa Candle
These Voluspa candles come in beautiful jars with lids that look great wherever you put them. Plus, you could definitely save once the candle wax is gone. But the best part about them is that the scents are SO nice, and the candle burns evenly (as long as you trim the wick each time before you light it). The scent fills a large room, and the candle really does last a long time. I used the scent Goji Tarocco Orange during Christmas and then started one called White Cypress for January. Next I’m going to try Baltic Amber, which is one of their bestsellers. You can buy these candles at a few local gift shops or online at the Voluspa website or on Amazon.
Two top picks for game night: Herd Immunity and Five Crowns
At our house, games are a BIG deal at Christmas. We love to try new ones each year, which is how we’ve always found our favorites (including Quirkle, Ticket to Ride and Qwixx.) This year, we tried four new games and these two emerged as the favorites with our family of five: Herd Immunity and Five Crowns.
Herd Immunity is a fast-paced party game that rewards you for thinking like the herd. If your answers match up with the other people playing the game, you earn a cow token. If you’re the only one in the group with a different answer, you’re the odd one out and have to keep the pink cow figurine until someone else becomes the odd one out. The first player to earn 8 cow tokens wins the game. It’s so quick to learn this game which means you get to relax and enjoy it quickly. Great choice for families with kids of different ages and also for college-aged kids and adults.
If your kids are a little older and know the basics of playing cards, we think you’ll love this card game called Five Crowns. It’s easy to learn, and the play action goes quickly so no one will get bored. If you play all 12 rounds, the game will take about 30 to 45 minutes, and you’ll be surprised how often the point totals change from round to round.
