Arts Center of the Ozarks Presents To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday
The Arts Center of the Ozarks (ACO) will be performing To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday, a play written by Michael Brady and directed by Evan Crawford. This play deals with letting going of the past so that you can handle the present, and provides a hope-filled glimpse into the strength and support of a family moving forward after tragedy. Showings will be March 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th at 7:30pm and March 5th at 3:00pm.

New Primrose School of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills grand opening event
The grand opening event will feature family-friendly activities, including school tours, a scavenger hunt, a visit from Percy the Rooster® and a variety of snacks from local food trucks, such as healthy donuts from Baker’s Wakery and tacos from Big Rub. The celebration will also have two giveaway baskets—one for a parent’s night out with gift cards to local restaurants and stores and a second basket for family fun, including gift cards to the Scott Family Amazeum, Dilly Dally’s toy store and other child-friendly stores and restaurants. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rogers Chamber of Commerce to mark the official opening of the school.

Eric Carle Storytime at Barnes & Noble
The Fayetteville Barnes & Noble will be hosting the the Walton Arts Center for a special storytime highlighting Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, The Hungry Caterpillar, and Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me with readings and special activities. This storytime is in connjuction with the performance of Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Other Treasured Stories by Eric Carle at the Walton Arts Center on Sunday, March 5. March 5, the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia will be performing a show titled Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Other Treasured Stories by Eric Carle at the Walton Arts Center. Sensory Story Time, Springdale Public Library
Beginning March 6 at 11am, the Springdale library will host a sensory story time every Monday for children 10 and under who are on the autism spectrum and/or sensory integration issues. The events will be thirty minutes long, and it will include movement and songs during the story time. The events will be free and open to the public, but caregiver presence and registration are required for attendance. Each registered family will receive a helpful information sheet as well.

Apple Seeds School Garden Workshops
Interested in raising a garden? Or do you want to teach your children? Just in time for spring planting, be sure to take advantage of Apple Seeds NWA’s FREE School Garden Workshops on March 9. Art in Bloom Weekend, Crystal Bridges
The Art in Bloom weekend at Crystal Bridges celebrates not only Arkansas’ natural blooming beauty in spring, but also the ways art and nature intersect. In the museum’s permanent art collection, floral arrangements from local florists will be displayed next to the artwork that inspired them. The weekend also includes live demonstrations, workshops, and talks about uniting the power of art and natural beauty. This weekend will also be the perfect time to take a stroll through the trails surrounding the museum, to view the amazing Arkansas native trees and flowers that will be in bloom. Calligraphy for Beginners, Fayetteville Public Library
Do you have a preteen or teenager who would love to learn calligraphy? The Fayetteville Public Library (FPL) is offering a free class on March 16. This beginner calligraphy class will cover basic lettering and other essential skills for hand lettering. The class will be led by Julie Rae, who has worked professionally in hand lettering since 1979, and has taught at colleges, schools, libraries, and even Silver Dollar City. Registration for this event is required, and opens March 2 at 9am.

Illinois River Watershed Partnership’s 10th Annual Riparian Project
IRWP is a non-profit in Cave Springs that works to protect and preserve the water quality of the Illinois River Watershed, which lies in Northwest Arkansas and Northeastern Oklahoma. The non-profit enjoys bringing families together outside for quality family and nature time.
On March 18th, IRWP is hosting its annual riparian project in eight different locations across the NWA area, where families can come out and plant trees along creeks and streams. Volunteers will plant tree seedlings and conduct creek clean-ups at locations in Fayetteville, Bentonville/ Healing Springs, Rogers, Farmington, Prairie Grove, Lincoln and Siloam Springs. Check-in is at 8:30am and the event will run from 9-11am. (One of these eight locations, Siloam Springs, will plant on Thursday the 16th from 1-3pm, and one of the Lincoln locations will plant on Friday the 17th from 8-11:30am.) Drinks and snacks will be provided. I’ll attach our press release for the event with site details.

Hobbs State Park Day Hike
Join the expert staff of Lewis & Clark Outfitters for a day of hiking on the Pigeon Roost Trail in Hobbs State Park. The trail is an 8.5 mile loop located east out of downtown Rogers. This is a moderately difficult trail, probably suitable only for older children (or very determined young ones!). Be sure to take plenty of snacks and water! No registration is required for this free community event.

An Evening with Ann Patchett
