Dec. 19, 2012 Hot drinks for the holidays
Mulled Dr. Pepper
8 cups Dr. Pepper
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp whole cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
3 cinnamon sticks
Combine all ingredients in a 3 qt slow cooker and cook on low for 2 hours. Discard cloves before serving. I used one of my tea strainers to hold the cloves so I didn’t have to fish them out.

Gwen’s Mom’s Spiced Tea
- 5 sticks cinnamon
- 1 large Minute Maid frozen orange juice with no pulp
- 1 frozen Minute Maid lemon juice concentrate (thawed)
- 2 teabags
- 1 46-ounce can pineapple juice
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 quarts water
Steep tea in a teapot. Heat 2 cups sugar in water along with the cinnamon sticks. Heat for about 30 minutes on low.
Remove cinnamon sticks and then pour sugar water mixture, tea, pineapple juice, orange juice and lemon juice in a 30-cup coffee maker (which I use only for this spiced punch. Just remove the coffee strainer part from the pot.) Heat until all ingredients are hot. Serve and enjoy.
