Mamas, we mentioned recently that we’ve teamed up with Arkansas Rice Depot to help raise awareness and funds for those who are hungry in our state. We’d love for you to donate any amount to the Rice Depot through Oct. 15th during the Food Bloggers Delete Hunger online fundraising event.
Dani Martin, director of development at Rice Depot, said, “Food represents so much more than just the nutrients on the label or ingredients in a recipe. It also provides security, warmth and peace of mind.” As moms, we know how true that is. It breaks our hearts that 1 in 4 children here in Arkansas don’t have enough to eat. So let’s all help change that, shall we?!
Here’s how you can help: CLICK HERE to donate to the Arkansas Rice Depot. They’ll be able to tell how much money was raised through each blogger’s special link (we won’t know who donated, just a total). The bloggers with the most donations will win a gift basket, which we would NOT keep if we won. Instead, we’d pass the prize on to one of you through a later giveaway. Please donate any amount and help kids who live right here in Arkansas. The mamas have already donated and we’d love for you to join us!
Arkansas Rice Depot reaches those in Arkansas through four main programs: Food For Families, Food For Seniors, Food For Kids and Disaster Relief. For over 30,000 Arkansas school children, the Food For Kids program is the only thing that stands between them and hunger. The Arkansas Rice Depot provides new backpacks and “kid-friendly” ready-to-eat food to participating schools at no cost to the school. Through a principal-appointed program coordinator, the food is distributed to students who display educational, physical, or emotional problems at school due to hunger at home. Your tax-deductible donation provides so much to many who have so little:
- $15 buys one new backpack and a weekend’s worth of food for one child
- $30 buys food for one child for one month
- $200 provides one month’s food for all the hungry children in one school
- $2,000 provides a year’s supply of food for all the hungry children in one school
