The Picture of Dorian Gray Preview

NPR’s Ira Glass at Walton Arts Center

Walton Arts Center kicks off the 2015-16 Coca- Cola Night Out Series with “Reinventing Radio: An Evening with Ira Glass” on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 8 pm. Glass mixes stories on-stage, combining narration with pre-taped quotes and music to recreate the sound of the show as you watch and listen along. Ticket prices range from $18 to $48 plus applicable fees and can be purchased by calling Walton Arts Center’s Box Office at 479.443.5600 or by visiting waltonartscenter.org. Ira Glass is the host and creator of the public radio program “This American Life.”

Kibbles & Books 5th year kick-off, Springdale Library

This program is designed to help children develop literacy skills and build confidence by reading to a therapy dog. At the kick-off event, welcome back the therapy dogs and their handlers by celebrating the start of the 5th year of Kibbles & Books! Read to the dogs and make a puppy craft. To register your child to be part of Kibbles & Books, call the Children’s Services Department at 479-750-8180. Or just visit on the 16th and check it out.

Chinese New Year event

Join FPL to celebrate the year of the monkey! There will be a brief presentation on the history of Chinese New Year by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association along with traditional dances from the Chinese Association of NWA (CANWA) and a lion dance from members of 5 Way Dragon’s Martial Arts. The presentation will be followed by food and a craft. This event is geared for families.

Play It Forward

Kick off the new year listening to a unique blend of blues and roots music with the Duo Sonics on Saturday, January 23rd, at 6:30 pm in the Walmart World room at The Walmart Museum. Tickets are $10 with proceeds benefiting the Community Creative Center. Doors open at 6. Tickets can be purchased in advance.

Paint the Town Red

American Heart AssocThe American Heart Association’s 15th annual Paint The Town Red event is Saturday, January 23 from 7-11 p.m. and supports the fight against the nation’s number one and number five killers – heart disease and stroke.  Paint the Town Red promises to be an evening of fun and passion, bringing community and philanthropic young professionals together in support of the Association’s mission: building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.  Music by Almost Famous, silent and mobile auctions, a wine pull and eight unique lounge areas at the Fayetteville Town Center and it all benefits the Association! Patrons will be able to sample foods from local restaurants including: Ella’s, Houlihan’s, IDK? Café, Mojo’s, Noodles and Zoe’s Kitchen.
