Name: Jake Lane
Son’s name and age: Luke, 6 ½ months
What has new fatherhood been like?
Fatherhood has been a huge blessing. Luke brings such joy to our lives, and we love him so much! It’s already hard to remember what life was like before him.
Any surprises that you didn’t expect?
Grandparents come visit a lot more often! It’s actually great when they visit because it gives us another 2 sets of hands to help around the house.
Are there any traditions you had with your father that you’d like to do with your son?
Praying with him before bedtime and playing sports with him.
Where did you meet your wife?
Haley and I were college sweethearts at the U of A.
How soon did you two get married?
2 weeks after college graduation! Straight from dorm life to married life.
What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn?
How to draw/paint. My drawing skills are currently on a Pre-K level, to say a Kindergarten level might be pushing it.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I really enjoy team sports- soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and I just recently started playing hockey at The Jones Center.
What’s the last book you read?
I’m re-reading through the Left Behind series, and I just finished the first book.
What’s something you always have with you?
Before I leave the house, I always check my pockets for my phone, keys, and wallet. Pretty classic.
In your opinion, what are three things dads should teach their kids?
Well, I’m only a few months in on this journey of fatherhood, but I would say how to love God, love others, and to how to be confident and accepted in who you are.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
When our dog gets muddy paws and frolics all over the house
One word to sum me up: Connector
