  1. My favorite memory of the 4th of July was when I was a kid and our entire family gathered at my grandparents farm in South Dakota. We would spend the entire day with our cousins, eating watermelon, chasing kittens and playing outside. The evening would end with a beautiful display of fireworks.

  2. Sitting on my grandparents porch and biting into a long slice of watermelon, juice on either side of my mouth, and spitting the seeds into the yard. That was summer!

  3. My dad sold fireworks at our firework stand my entire childhood and once we were old enough we had to work there too. The perk was an epic firework show every year! It’s always been his favorite holiday. He loves this country and loved celebrating it!

  4. I think my favorite memory was when I was a kid watching the firework display in Manitou Springs, Colorado.

  5. 1988 at the Potomac River with all of the National monuments in the background. I cried. It was the most patriotic I’ve ever felt in my life.
Watermelon is a must on the 4th of July and also homemade peach cobbler and homemade ice cream.

  6. One of my favorite memories is when my kids were little and my daughter was scared and kept hiding under a blanket. They both were covered in red popcicle. Makes me smile.

  7. I grew up in South Texas on the beach. Every 4th of July they would do a HUGE firework show from boats. The whole town gathered on the beach to watch. So fun!
