Happy Monday, Northwest Arkansas mamas. This week we’re giving away tickets to a really special show that hits close to my heart. It’s called The Remember Balloons, and it will be on stage at the Walton Arts Center at 6pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. This week you can win 4 tickets to the show.
If you’re lucky enough to have grandparents in your life or in your kids’ lives, this is a show you should definitely see. My three kids spent a big part of their childhoods watching my dad experience dementia in the 10 years before he passed. I wish I’d had a show like this to help my kids understand what was happening and how to share memories even in the midst of illness.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
The Remember Balloons is a heartwarming intergenerational tale that embraces the beauty of sharing memories while delicately addressing memory loss. James’ Grandpa treasures his balloons, each representing cherished memories – his wedding with Grandma, a fishing trip with James. When the balloons begin to drift away, James is devastated until he discovers he can share those balloons himself, one by one. Director and choreographer Dominic Moore-Dunson, one of Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch, adapts this touching story for the stage, crafting a captivating dance-theater experience accompanied by an original score and digital projections.
Recommended for ages 5 and up.

(Here’s one of mine: Moments after my daughter was born, a nurse held this tiny crying baby up to my face because I couldn’t move (C-section). I said, “Happy Birthday, Kate” and she instantly stopped crying, opened her eyes and looked at me as if to say, “I know this voice.”)

Not one single memory, but every time my now 7 year old is upset all he wants to do is snuggle in my lap and squeeze the skin in the fold of my arm. It soothes him
The smell of a little baby – baby magic after a fresh bath – their tiny little hands and feet.
My daughter’s head was pressed up against my pelvic bone in the womb because she got too large to move. When she was born, she had a bruise on her forehead from it. To this day, she still presses her forehead against my arm or under my arm when she’s snuggling me. She’s 12. 🙂
