Happy Monday, mamas! Mondays are not usually on the list of our favorite things, but The Sound of Music definitely is!

We watch it every time it comes on television, usually before Christmas. But now we don’t have to wait for winter because The Sound of Music is coming to the stage on May 15, 2018, with performances running through May 20th.

And one of our favorite nwaMotherlode sponsors, Walton Arts Center, is giving us FOUR FREE tickets for a lucky reader to see the show with her family on opening night, May 15th!

ABOUT THE SHOW:

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE! A brand new production of The Sound of Music returns to Walton Arts Center by popular demand. The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its Tony®, Grammy® and Academy Award® winning Best Score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss” and the title song.

The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp.

The Sound of Music enjoyed extraordinary success as the first live television production of a musical in over 50 years when “The Sound of Music Live!” aired on NBC in December, 2013 and was seen by over 44 million people. 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the film version, which continues to be the most successful movie musical in history.

Show times at Walton Arts Center:

  • Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16 at 7 pm
  • Thursday, May 17 at 1:30 and 7 pm
  • Friday, May 18 at 8 pm
  • Saturday, May 19 at 2 and 8 pm
  • Sunday, May 20 at 2 pm

The Sound of Music is my 94 year old grandfathers favorite…we used to watch it every year it was on TV when I still lived in Illinois. Would love to take my kids to see this one to start their love of it too!

  69. One was my favorite things this past weekend was seeing my youngest daughter be baptized. It was a great blessing!!
