Welcome to our newest spa-ready sponsor

By Shannon Magsam

new-je.jpgJackie Griffin, mom of three and a brand-new Motherlode sponsor [see her ad in our new work-from-home space], was first introduced to Jordan Essentials spa products during a terribly stressful time – her mother and sister-in-law were both terminally ill and she was a primary caregiver.

She’d gone to the Dogwood Festival in Siloam Springs where a woman from Buffalo, Mo., was selling the company’s lotion bars.

“I bought some and brought them home with me. Mom just loved the lotion bar and so did my sister-in-law,” Jackie said.

l_lotion-bar-multi-pack.jpgA month later, when Mother’s Day (2005) was coming up, Jackie sought out the woman from Buffalo and was introduced to all the wonderful Jordan Essentials products.  Eventually she was asked if she’d be interested in selling JE in Northwest Arkansas since there was no representative in the area.

“I thought, ‘That’s the last thing I need – I don’t need anything else to do,’” Jackie said.

But the more she thought about it, the more she thought it might be a good outlet. She knew she loved the products and making phone calls was something she could do while sitting at her loved ones’ bedsides.

She signed up, got her first products, and started having parties where she let women sample the bath, body and spa products like Salt of the Earth (Dead Sea salts), lip exfoliant and whole bean soy moisturizers.

“I really credit being able to stay sane through that time to this company,” she said.

Let’s go to the spa – in the living room!

lippublic_products.jpgJackie recently dropped by my house to let me test out some of the Jordan (as in the river Jordan) Essentials products. We started with lip exfoliating, then moved to face cleansing. After all my makeup was removed, it was time to apply the silt clay mask and then vitamins for my face – otherwise known as toner mist. After my skin cells were rejuvenated, we applied some “Time Rewind” eye cream, which also helps with age spots.

We ended my facial with a whole-bean soy moisturizer made for oily skin (guilty).

Next, Jackie surprised me with a moisturizing hot hand wrap and foot scrub. I was feeling so relaxed I almost forgot to go retrieve my daughter after school. While waiting in the school pick-up line, I looked at my face in the rearview mirror. It looked relaxed, smooth and a little glow-y. I had to laugh when I saw one last dot of green clay mask I didn’t quite get rinsed off.

Humble beginnings

Made just across the Arkansas border in Nixa, Mo., Jordan Essentials (formerly called Country Bunny Bath & Body) was started by Nancy Bogart eight years ago in her kitchen. Now her products are sold by representatives in all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

The products are all made from natural ingredients like beeswax, Vitamin E, aloe, green tea , chamomile and sea weed.

Four years later, Jackie is still glad she chose to work as a JE rep, especially since she’s been able to take several vacations on the company, including a 25th wedding anniversary cruise.

Jackie lives on a working farm, while keeping her French manicured hands in the spa products business. She is a hard-working woman who knows how nice it can be to come in from taking care of animals to a nice, hot bath with JE cucumber pads on her eyes and “Body Silk” available to moisturize her skin when she gets out.
