We know many of the mamas out there love you some Bordinos. We do, too!

bordinos2thumbnail.jpgAnd right now they’re doing something really cool we wanted to tell you about: participating in the Share Our Strength’s Great American Dine Out®. It’s a week-long national restaurant event in cities across the United States. From September 19-25, thousands of restaurants, including Bordinos will join together in raising funds to support No Kid Hungry, Share Our Strength’s national campaign to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.

This year, Bordinos is participating by not only taking donations, but matching 25% of the proceeds up to $1,000 dollars with their overall goal being to raise $3,000 dollars.

Millions of consumers play a vital role in this initiative as well; their choice to dine out at participating restaurants will help feed children in need all across America. Nearly 17 million children in America—almost one of every four—lack the resources to put healthy meals on the table every day.

Last year, nearly 4,000 restaurants of every size and type helped the Great American Dine Out raise nearly $800,000 by donating a portion of the week’s sales, offering special promotions, or collecting donations from their customers.

“As a fine dining establishment, we feed people every day — people who don’t need to worry about their next meal. As part of the community, I feel it is our duty and privilege to help children who don’t have that same luxury. At their age, it isn’t something they should have to worry about. Let them focus on school and play and being kids,” said Greg Esmond, Bordinos’ Executive Chef.

The Great American Dine Out is sponsored by Sysco, Ecolab, American Express, USA Today and the National Restaurant Association.

For those of you not familiar with Bordinos, it’s definitely a “fine dining” establishment. They have a great atmosphere and a great location on Dickson Street. The food is described as “contemporary American cuisine with strong French and Italian influences”.

  1. Ladies – thank you for the support. This is a huge problem in our state, we rank #1 in the nation in food insecurity in children – meaning – they do not know where their next meal is coming from….surely we as moms can work together to stop this.
