Tropical Smoothie Café, a tropical themed sandwich and smoothie restaurant on Crossover & Joyce in Fayetteville, is kicking off summer with its 4th Annual National Flip Flop Day event!
They’ll give the first 500 customers wearing flip-flops on Friday (June 18) a free 24-ounce Jetty Punch smoothie. They’ll also have raffles, face painting, arts & crafts, sidewalk chalk and other fun activities that day.

Coinciding with the nationwide event will be a fund-raising effort which will continue through June 27, 2010, with funds raised benefiting children with life-threatening illnesses. The national goal this year is to raise upwards of $325,000 in donations in an effort to send more than 200 families to Camp Sunshine, a retreat in Maine that provides respite, support, joy and hope to its visitors. The local Tropical Smoothie is hoping to raise $1500 to send a family from NWA. The money will pay for the family’s transportation and the camp is free.

I totally missed this smoothie day. I probably would not have gotten there in time, though, as I don’t get off work till 4 p.m.
