WAC-Velveteen-Rabbit-200x266

Note from the mams: Congratulations to Riana Thomas, winner of the Velveteen Rabbit tickets!

Who doesn’t love the classic tale of a well-worn nursery rabbit that becomes real? The Velveteen Rabbit has always been one of our favorite books and we can’t wait to see how the Oberlin Dance Collective brings the storybook to life on the Walton Arts Center stage!

We have FOUR TICKETS to give away for this amazing show, which is Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m.

ABOUT THE SHOW: The show, which celebrates the unique relationship between a little boy and his stuffed rabbit, is recommended for children 5 years and up. Brimming with wit, festive costumes and madcap characters, The San Francisco Chronicle called this production “A bright testament to the transformative powers of love.” Oberlin Dance Collective – one of America’s most exciting and acclaimed contemporary dance companies – is thrilled to present their 25th season of this beloved production in Northwest Arkansas.

HOW TO ENTER: For a chance to win four tickets to see The Velveteen Rabbit, just click on the orange comment button at the bottom of this post, and tell us about your child’s favorite “lovey”. You know, the one you would immediately drive back to the restaurant to look for — or possibly a different state. That toy or blankie that you live (or lived, if your child is older) in fear of losing.

  1. My little boy has a soft rabbit he has slept with since he was a baby. It’s name is Bunny Hop.

  2. My 6-year-old daughter has a soft pink baby doll named “pink.” She has been attached to her since she was a baby, and we’ve had to replace “pink” a couple times (once because we lost the real one, and once because she just got too worn out…when my daughter got the new ones, we told her Pink had gone to the beauty salon to get cleaned up). She still sleeps with her every night!

  3. My daughter’s lovey is a colorful bear that I got at my baby shower, right before she was born. She named it “Bearica” and it’s gone everywhere with her from the time she was born!

  4. Hannah Roberts says:

My daughter has had her lovey since she was 6 month s old. A little pink bear with long skinny arms and legs named Pinky :)

  5. Brown Bear, Lucky, and Ducky Duck are all pretty important to my son. He loves his stuffed animals and likes to have them all around him when he sleeps.

  6. My daughter has a stuffed cow. Her name is Debbie. We have left her at the doctor’s office in the past. We drove straight back as soon as we realized it. Luckily the girl behind the desk had found it and was holding it for her. :)

  7. My 4 year old daughter loves her lion “Simba” from Lion King. My 6 year old son has a monkey that he has to have at bedtime.

  8. My 5 year old has a sweet madame Alexander doll named LuLu that goes everywhere with us! She’s been ‘facepainted’ (permanent markers! Ha!), gotten sick on, loved on, and looks worn out, but she’s very very loved!!!!

  9. We had the my buddy doll which we could leave at home but
My daughter had my little buddy’s sister and at
Our house she was named Suzi. We could not
Forget her. She was dragged through every thing. And on weekends she was taken to grandmas house for a bath. Only
Grandma could give her baths. Haha
She is now on my 20 yr old daughters bed and anxiously
Awaits for her to come home from college.

  10. My 6yr old daughter has a stuffed POP.. He is the Hop on Pop character from Dr Seuss book…and of course his name is POP :) when she was little I bought another one and put it away just in case something happened to the original… One night she got sick and he needed to go in the washer… So I took the “replacement” out and have it to her and she looked at me like I was crazy and threw it on the floor and said that’s not my POP! :) they always know their “loveys”

  11. All of our kids have a special blanket.

The kind of special that when it’s time for me to wash it, the two year old often waits by the washing maching to make sure it’s doing ok.

Samuel also has a sock monkey that most go everywhere with us, because 5 kids and a balnket isn’t enough for me to keep up with, it has a Razorback on it’s belly and he has named it Sooie.

I’ve shared your post with others too :)

  12. My daughter has Money The Bunny and my son has a blanket – I don’t remember being attached to anything as a child so it’s special to see them with their special item.

  13. Our lil ladies are each attached to stuffed animals they have had since they were toddlers. One is a dog with a giant head and bulging eyes! lol

  14. My daughter has a bear that her daddy bought her from Northwestern University where he was a doctoral student when I was pregnant. The bear has a sad face, so we call him “Grad Bear” like a poor, depressed grad student. He is very loved.

  15. Cherie Robbins says:

Bailey would always have a tiny, tiny stuffed animal cluched in her hands. She had to have one in her chubby little hand to go to sleep. We had them all over the house and under all our pillows.

  16. Kristy Sanders says:

My 7 year old has slept with “Pup Pup” since he was born. A few years ago he added “Mousey”, the mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and “Piggy”, the pig from If you Give a Pig a Party.

  17. My daughter has a blanket.

My son has a scooby doo dog.

  18. My daughter carries her Belle princess everywhere she goes :)

  19. My daughter loves her “Snowtiger”.

  20. My daughter – 3 – MUST have her spiderman hat and t-shirt or it’s a long hard day for mommy. LOL. And yes, we have gone all the way back home or work or wherever to retrieve the forgotten item. I now keep and extra spidy shirt in my purse. (Sigh)
