Ways to help others this holiday season in Northwest Arkansas

This morning in our Mamas on Magic 107.9 radio segment, we talked about opportunities to help out in Northwest Arkansas.

First up, the Angel Tree at the Northwest Arkansas Mall. If you’d like to help some local kids have a happy Christmas, stop by the Angel Tree at the Northwest Arkansas Mall and choose a name. The Salvation Army puts the “angels” on the tree and they all deserve to have some wishes granted. We only have until Wednesday to get our Angel Tree presents dropped off at the mall, so we better get over there ASAP!

Also, the Ronald McDonald Family Room in Northwest Arkansas could use your help with meals.

If you’re like most mamas, good food equals love, and there’s always an opportunity to help provide meals to people who are staying at the local Ronald McDonald House to be near loved ones at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. It’s actually on the third floor of the hospital and is set up like a big apartment with common areas and four bedrooms.

The rooms are usually filled by parents whose babies are in the NICU. If you’d like to help, just call and set up a date to bring over a main course, a couple of sides and a dessert. They typically say to bring enough to feed 8 to 10 people. Here’s the number you can to discuss bringing a meal: 479-338-4911.

Another opportunity to help out this month is by giving to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank. For every $1 donated, they’re able to provide 5 meals to people in need in our community. Click here to visit the page and read more about how you can help, including the opportunity to “adopt a piggy bank” at work.

If you want to get hands-on, there are opportunities with the United Way of Northwest Arkansas. You can volunteer to do everything from wrap gifts to adopt a senior for the holidays. Just go to volunteernwa.org or call 479-750-1221.

Thanks, mamas! Happy helping 🙂
